Vote for August 2024 Member of the Month
Last month's Member of the Month winner didn't let a minor detail like no previous experience hold them back. Whether it's the cost of living, age or things not going to plan - this month's contenders haven't let anything stop them from doing the thing they've set their mind to either.
šLast month's winner of Member of the Month š
This Hackney Wick member bagged themselves Ā£20 credit, and the imaginary Member of the Month Trophy. Now it's time for you to choose this month's winner.
Check out this month's nominees š
1. Finally overcoming what held you back š
"I've been thinking of trying camping for a while, but kept postponing because it seemed complicated and expensive.
When I found out I could just borrow a Tent for a day without committing I started planning my first camping trip."
2. Trying someThing you've never done beforeĀ šŖ
"Iāve never done any furniture building before, I built a built in cupboard and bookshelf to go in an alcove in my lounge.Ā
The Bosch Router was an invaluable piece of equipment and made it look amazing."
3. Finding a way to get the sofa you've always wanted š
"I've always wanted to create a pallet sofa for my balcony but didnāt want to have to buy all the equipment I needed to only use this once.
When I found I could rent the Drill from the Library of Things I was so happy. The whole process was extremely easy and I was finally able to create my pallet sofa."
4. Making special memories without breaking the bank š§
"With the cost of living going up, I wanted to treat my kids to dessert, but I couldnāt justify going to a dessert parlour and spending Ā£30 for a treat for the family.
Itās so simple but renting the Waffle Maker allowed me to make their favourite dessert - waffles and ice cream at home, and at a fraction of the cost.
I was also able to freeze some to have on the go, when we fancy it."
5. Having fun even when Things don't go to plan š«
"I was having friends over on a rainy afternoon to make brownies and play board games. I don't have a TV, so I thought it would be nice to use a Projector to watch some Netflix and cat videos.Ā
The brownies didn't go as planned but hey we got to laugh at the contestants on Love Island and also blow up Taylor swift on my wall."
6. Keeping up with birthday celebrations š
"I rented the Speaker for my 60th birthday party. Finished at 0500: still got it."
Don't forget to take a photo next time you rent a Thing - not only will you be in with the chance of winning Ā£20 credit too, but you never know...your story might inspire someone to try something they've always wanted to.
