We love how much you inspire each other by sharing what you've been up to with the Things. Jonathan (pictured) is a previous Member of the Month winner, after sharing their story Olivia told us "I fixed my cat scratching post with the Staple Gun. Thank you!"
Don't thank us, thank Jonathan. Whatever your story, we're sure it'll inspire someone -Ā so don't forget to snap a photo next time you rent someThing. Plus, you could also be in with the chance of winning Ā£20 credit too!Ā It's time to choose who should win Ā£20 credit and the imaginary Member of the Month Trophy šš
1. Sharing your skills to repair your neighbours stuff š§µ
I borrowed the Sewing Machine to volunteer at the Southfields Repair CafƩ. I had a great time using the machine to repair some shorts, trousers and a cap for residents. It was great to connect and sew alongside other sewers to help out the community and promote a circular economy.
2. Helping the community š±
I'm part of a communityĀ allotmentĀ project and don't have access to lots of funding or specialist tools. We recently built a compost bay on site, and needed a Staple Gun to add the finishing touches. It was a quick and specific job, so borrowing one was the perfect solution for us.
3. Making yourshelf smile š
I used the SDS Drill and the Circular Saw to put up shelves in a hallway alcove, which I had wallpapered with this fabulous map of Mexico City, where I lived for a while and travel to a lot. It was a bit of a labour of love as I had several obstacles...some overcome easily thanks to Library of Things.Ā Ā It was my first time using a Circular Saw and I was a bit nervous, but it was fine and made quick work of the task - trimming the shelves to fit. The SDS Drill made quick work of putting up the brackets. I absolutely love the result and smile every time I pass it!
4. Trying someThing new šŖ
I used the Jigsaw to help panel a wall and cut blinds to size. Have never done either before but it worked out perfectly.
5. Making a task fun š¤£
Had a hedge to cut. Got the hedge cutter. Cut the hedge. Neighbourhood came out in celebration. Received an OBE. Off to Mars next week. Thanks L.O.T.
6. Bringing your stuff back from the dead š
Using the Carpet Cleaner, I was able to bring my sofa back from the dead (it's Halloween, how fitting). There's a specific part of the sofa where my dog sleeps, and I could see exactly what the machine was pulling out of the fabric based on the colour of the waste water. Our dog will be sleeping on his own bed from now on!
